Bucknotes' prayers are answered
What 30 minutes of practice revealed (Blogging the Buckeyes)
Jermale Hines is practicing with the ones, which means Tressel is again listening to criticism. Those of you out there who really think Tress is too hard-headed need to shut yer yaps. He's making the changes we clamor for when it comes to personnel; first Boeckman for Pryor, now Russell for Hines. Philosophical changes take time, if they come at all. Remember: he has been a successful coach for many years. He has an ego that all coaches develop after such a period of time. Be thankful he's doing this. No word about Spitler. Mike Adams is running with the USC scout team because he's cool like that.

Tressel accepts Pryor's right to expression - Big Ten - ESPN
Calls it a "teachable" moment, which it basically is, I guess. I think the uproar was a bit overblown; what Pryor was trying to say - that people deserve second chances and no one is perfect - was just incredibly poorly phrased. I can't fault the kid for believing in the power of forgiveness.

2009 NCAA College Football Polls and Rankings for Week 2 - ESPN
Ohio State drops two spots in both polls to eighth, USC moves up a spot to 3rd following the Oklahoma upset, and Okie State makes the top 5 in one of them, Penn State making the top 5 in the other. The schadenfreude is flowing from Stillwater, undoubtedly. The Cowboys will, of course, be making a trip to Norman later on this season.

BuckeyeXtra - The Columbus Dispatch : Wanted: TDs inside red zone
Eh. As commenter Dayton Dogg said yesterday:
They scored 4 out of 5 drives in the first half and 2 of their first 3 in the second. The 4th-and-2 call was bogus, but Tressel should have kicked the FG their- effectively ending the game and giving them their 7th score in 9 drives.
7 scores in 9 drives is pretty solid. Yeah, I know TDs obviously mean a lot more, but really, I'm just looking for points. If this defense gets its act together, and I think it will. If and when it does, 29 points should definitely be enough to put away 9 or 10 out of the 11 remaining opponents. Fun fact: Tressel is undefeated when his offense 30 or more points.

'incredibly poorly phrased'
is an incredible understatement, but he obviously didn’t mean to say everyone both kills and murders people.
I’m surprised more buckeye fans don’t have a problem with this. Not the message, which free speach ands fine, but the fact that Tressel doesn’t have a problem with the billboarding and invitation of distractions.

i'm sure i don't need to tell you this,
but what a coach tells the media is often completely different from what he tells his players. for all you know, Coach could have take TP into his office and said, “please don’t do that anymore,” then went on to tell the media that it’s no big deal so that they wouldn’t get pay more attention to it.
i doubt Pryor does this again.
Knowing his track record
I’ll take that bet.

if only Sabino could get more reps with the 1st team instead of Spitler.
but he’s making the right move with Hines.
Yo...
Is that open thread you were doing during the Navy game gonna be a weekly thing?
