Wells playing way into starter talks
Cards fans want it, and Cards coach Ken Whisenhunt may be coming over to that train of thought as well. If he's healthy, I'd say they can count on him for at least 1,000 yards on the ground this season.
Ohio State toying with the 3-4?
Who's the nose tackle? 6'7" Doug Worthington? The 3-4 defense needs a dominant NT to be successful - Ted Washington, Shaun Rogers, and Terrance Cody and scant few others are good 3-4 NT, and Ohio State has nobody like those guys in terms of body shape or ability. It could work in bits and pieces - and it's sounding like that's what Heacock is thinking - but we simply won't be able to run it with any consistency. Just don't have the personnel.
Report: Michigan Wolverines coach Rich Rodriguez tied to banned booster - ESPN
I don't even to know what to think of this, other than that unlike practicegate, this actually seems to have a bit of, I dunno, legitimacy to it:
According to documents provided Wednesday by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Green is accused of pilfering thousands of dollars from Palmetto State Enterprises LLC between 2005 and 2007 to pay debts on various business deals, buy furniture and have cosmetic surgery. Greene had set up the corporation several years earlier, using it to help fund several condominium developments -- including one involving Rodriguez, a former coach at Clemson. Bank documents list Greene, 71, as one of Rodriguez's co-investors on The Legends of Blacksburg, an 80-unit project overlooking Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Va.
The water around Rodriguez must be scalding him by now. With practicegate, I generally bought into the theory of "win, and this all goes away". That might not be the case with this, as it isn't media or fans after RichRod, it's a frickin' bank.
Jim Tressel: Offensive Line Looking Crisp
Pulling together and soldier forth just in time?
Coach Tressel discussed limiting the number of plays for the line as a way to get them more comfortable this fall. "So we had narrowed down a little bit of what we might do." he said. "And I thought yesterday in full pads, it wasn’t like it was shorts or anything, in full pads, our offensive line looked a little bit crisper and quicker and more confident in what they were doing than I had seen them in the last week or so." he told everyone about the play of the line.

Taurian Washington shooting up the depth chart (Blogging the Buckeyes)
Gordon, paraphrasing Darrell Hazell:
Raved about [Taurian] Washington's camp. Said he's shown everything he has not shown in the first two years of his career. Still must see it on the field, but it sounds like Washington is a late-blooming success story.
New early frontrunner for the Bammie?
Argh: Minor Questionable Saturday | mgoblog
Brandon Minor out for the Michigan's game against Western. Michigan is actually relatively deep at RB, so this isn't a death knell. Still, I couldn't help but notice how the Michigan running game improved so dramatically (outside of the MSU game) following Minor's insertion into the Penn State game. The passing game is clearly still a question mark with freshman quarterbacks plus Nick Sheridan, so is a loss to Western Michigan still such a remote possibility?
Final Takes: Striking while USC's forcefields are down - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF - Yahoo! Sports
DocSat speaks at great length about USC's temporary vulnerability, still doesn't rule out the possibility of a Trojan romp in Columbus.
Offensive Strategy To Confuse Defenses? | Eleven Warriors
Keith at 11W analyzes some of Tressel's unique offensive nuances from the Troy Smith era; could they be seen again in the days of Pryor? I like some of the comparisons drawn between then and now.
