OSU hate, OU love creates double standard - Big Ten - ESPN
The difference between Ohio State and Oklahoma is that Oklahoma lights up the scoreboard, and has no shame in doing it on both conference foe and OOC schlubs. No, really, I mean it: Oklahoma has lost five straight BCS bowls, got blown out even worse than OSU did against Florida by an all-timer of USC team, lost a game it should have won running away even without its Heisman quarterback, and still gets more credit from the media than the Buckeyes. The only reasonable explanation for this is selective scoreboard-watching. Rittenberg:
What happened Saturday? Ohio State pounded Toledo 38-0 in Cleveland, the same Rockets team that had embarrassed Big 12 member Colorado the previous week. Oklahoma crushed Tulsa 45-0, a very solid win without Bradford at the helm. Still, I don't see much of a difference here. So why the shuffle in the polls? Perhaps it's because USC, which beat Ohio State in Columbus on Sept. 12, lost to unranked Washington in Seattle. Meanwhile, a BYU team that beat Oklahoma in Dallas on Sept. 5 got utterly embarrassed on its home field by Florida State. Explain to me how USC's loss, which came on the road with the backup quarterback (Aaron Corp) at the helm, should punish Ohio State, while BYU's loss, which came with the Cougars at full strength and on their home field, rewards Oklahoma. It's ridiculous. And it needs to stop.
Is it some sort of grand conspiracy against Ohio State? No. Is there at least a bit of favoritism going on here? It's tough to deny.

For the most part, the answer is yes.
BuckeyeXtra - The Columbus Dispatch : Rob Oller commentary: Let's stop singing praises of Carroll
Yay, Rob Oller is back to being an idiot! I agree with one thing in this pointless diatribe: the mantle of best coach in America resides just a bit more firmly with Urban Meyer, although it's shaky with his team underperforming against a determined Tennessee squad. When Pete Carroll wins another title in one of the next three years, Oller will probably never issue a mea culpa.

Boom or Bust? (Flying high with the Buckeyes)
Way, way too early to panic about Boom Herron. If he had busted that long run behind a crushing offensive line effort in the 2nd quarter, rather than Saine, he wouldn't be having this discussion. Both he and Saine have been underwhelming in the early going.
It's time for conference play, but is Ohio State ready for the Big Ten? - Canton, OH - CantonRep.com
Not sure there's all that much to be ready for this year.
CFB: USC, BYU, UTAH, NEBRASKA FALL | With Leather
"The Bearcats could overtake Ohio State in the polls if they hold serve against Fresno State at home. If Cincinnati is rewarded by the AP voters for such a feat, it would be the first time in the history of that poll that Ohio State was not the highest-ranked team in its own state."
Um. Wow. Not like they haven't earned it. That high ranking might not be going away any time soon, either; they get West Virginia, UConn and Illinois at home and the trip to South Florida in a few weeks looks a lot less intimidating with Matt Grothe sidelined for the season. Perhaps another Ohio team will get blown out in the championship?

Because no matter how bad the FIRE TRESSEL discussions got, they can always get worse. So take heart. For now.

After the latest polls came out, I was extremely disappointed. The Buckeyes finally showed what they’re capable of with that white washing of Toledo, and what happens? We drop AGAIN. I’m not saying we’re Top 5 worthy, but hell, we should’ve cracked the Top 10 – not dropped AGAIN. It looks very suspicious the way this week’s polls are.
We dominated a Toledo team that was just oh so good because they put a bruising on Colorado and have this amazing offense that can rack up 500+ yards a game. They were embarassed on Saturday and we get punished for it. Shame.

Not true; in 2004 BGSU was ranked for one week at 25 and tOSU was not in the top 25 that week.
