Please welcome your Ohio State.... Falcons? If the above picture really depicts an "alternate" away jersey (and the AD has only ruled out a silver jersey, silver pants, silver helmet combination)... then, well... Woody Hayes is weeping tears of blood in Heaven right now.

UPDATE: (Sigh) They're real.

If they are 1955 throw backs its kind of cool. And at least the falcons are decent now :).

I also heard on the fan that they were not having silver helmets. That might freak people out.

I went googling and found only a few color pics from that era and none of the white jeseys, though there are some b+w where it looks like the numbers had outlines. I’m not quite sure if the helmets were white or light gray. Here is one of Hopalong Cassady, and one from 1958.

not sure if the image above is anything close to the road jerseys worn in 1955 though.

Found this on google images from the 1955 Rose Bowl vs USC

or this one:

Found a better image of the ’54 uniforms …

If there is a better view of the top of the shoulders for the initial pic, maybe it will look the same. The white helmet will be weird to see … wonder if they will transfer the buckeye leaves over for it.
