Week 10 Big Ten Power Poll

1. Ohio State

2. Iowa

3. Penn State

4. Wisconsin

5. Northwestern

6. Purdue

7. Michigan State

8. Minnesota

9. Illinois

10. Michigan

11. Indiana

  •  Pretty straightfoward ballot, overall, I think. Teams 5-7 were almost impossible to sort out.
  • No matter who wins in Columbus on Saturday, unless it's Ohio State by 50 (in which case I'll move Penn State up a spot for Iowa's incredible stupidity in letting a JT team score more than 40), the top 2 is going to remain the same two teams. Both have pretty much set themselves apart from the rest of the league - inexplicable losses to Northwestern and Purdue notwithstanding - and following this week's game, each should win its season-ending rivalry game with ease.
  •  Could.... Purdue make a bowl game? They have two winnable games to close the season, against Michigan State and Indiana. Whodathunkit when Ohio State fell in West Lafayette? Even the most ardent of Ohio State homers still thought that was a terrible Boiler outfit (as did I - remember "Purdue stinks?" I was somewhat wrong, at least)
  • Illinois below Minnesota is iffy, I know, but from a pure conference standpoint, the Gophers have three conference wins to Illinois' 2. And Minnesota still might make a bowl game. Illinois, playing Cincinnati in two weeks, will not.
  • Even the most devoted RR supporters are doubting their man, and I can't really blame them. To me, Greg Robinson was never a particularly good hire, and it may be the one that ends up dooming Rich Rodriguez. Even if he does get the offense in order, it'll still have to outscore any and every team the Wolverines play.
  • Is Wisconsin not the most quiet team in the Big Ten right now? It's like I haven't heard anything  from them since we beat them, but they keep winning, and defying my preseason predictions of their being a thoroughly average team.

Thoughts?
