New Mexico State Gameday Thread
New Mexico St. Aggies at Ohio St. Buckeyes, Oct 31, 2009 12:00 PM EDT
Is one full game of consistent offense too much to ask? Even with the back-ups in, there isn't any reason Ohio State shouldn't roll against the Aggies. All that said, we know how much pity JT takes on the patsies. Maybe we'll see Evil Jim one last time before the November deluge. Let's hope so, because otherwise, the second half won't even be watchable.

There probably won't be very many of you here, so I'll just post a few thoughts
throughout the day. First, I hate this game because it’s a no-win situation. We win by 50, we did exactly what we were supposed to do. We win by 20, we’ve “underperformed” or whatever.
Let’s just hope and pray for another above-average offensive day that leaves us with some positive impressions for Penn State.

Nice pass, bad run, Pryorball, then miscommunication
This offense leads the NCAA in missed opportunities, doesn’t it?

knuckle head tressel
when will tressel realize his best running backs are the freshman hall and martin
Not sure if we can christen them "the best" for their performance against Minnesota
But I agree, I’d like to see a bit more of a rotation in the backfield.

So we're going to end up winning like 27-3 at the most.
Offense not in rhythm, doesn’t look like it’ll be getting into one anytime soon.

How many times has that exact play (the scramble) happened this year?
We seem to leave the middle wide open.

If the offense can manage to get a couple scores, that should be enough to put things out of reach.
If NM needs to go consistently to the air, that bodes extremely well for the Buckeyes.
Yes, but that first one is quite a big "if"

I believe it was this time last week I was thinking the same thing (about the touchdowns). I just had to wait until the second half for it to happen.

That's shocking.

That was pretty funny.
“I got this”

That pass gives me more confidence in Pryor as a pocket passer.

They're your Buckeyes.
This is just what they look like when they have their heads in the game.

Just not used to seeing that this season.

I’m just used to hearing referred to as an “onside kick”.

Thanks for ending that, Saine.

I saw that spin move and thought. Okay, alright. Then it was just….depressing.
by Chief WaDrew on Oct 31, 2009 12:56 PM EDT up reply actions
So uh, Saine has done exactly nothing right today
Why’s he still getting the bulk of the carries?
www.wewillalwayshavetempe.com
Because Tressel still recognizes seniority.

Not saying it right. The man just stick to his fundamental beliefs.

Yeah, but at some point, you have to recognize who has a hot hand
and who doesn’t even have hands.

Shouldn’t Krenzel be messing with molecular genetics in some lab instead of doing car commercials in Columbus?
He's also helping host a radio show on Fridays in Columbus
Surprisingly objective about Tressel, the offense, and the program, too.

Put the ball where only the receiver can catch it.

Yes.
In a strict moral sense. I’d like to see what our other kickers can do though.

Kinda shady how the NMSU guy went for that block. On a kicker, come on

A made field goal would get the crowd cheering, and his confidence up.
He’ll be fine.
www.wewillalwayshavetempe.com
No doubt. It doesn’t hurt that this is a no pressure situation also.

Unless he’s Tate Forcier and doesn’t get nervous.
by Chief WaDrew on Oct 31, 2009 1:24 PM EDT up reply actions
Yep.
Pryor seems to have inverted his arm punt. Now he’s way overshooting guys. He did have some good throws here and there, and I definitely think his footwork has improved. He is setting, despite the earlier jokes, and I think he’s doing his fair share of progressing. Would have liked to see it far earlier in the season, but hey, them’s the breaks.
www.wewillalwayshavetempe.com
And he is still a very young kid. People progress at their own pace. Even though it has taken some time, it is nice to see him not making the same egregious mistakes week after week (even if this week is just a one week reprieve).
by Chief WaDrew on Oct 31, 2009 1:35 PM EDT up reply actions
Well, the defense has done its job
I’m slightly more willing to chalk up Purdue as fluky, but…. it’s New Mexico State.
www.wewillalwayshavetempe.com
Get them jacked up before next week’s game. This is what it feels like to completely dominate another team. Do it against PSU.

yeah he did, I am just excited that the game is in a position for him to get some playing time. He could be Ken Dorsey right now (Brown’s Dorsey, not Hurricane’s Dorsey), and I wouldn’t be that put off by it. So long as the score remains in the Bucks favor.

Thanks for the play-by-play, WaDrew
I’ve moved on to the recap already. Probably arrogant, but NMSU just had another 3+out
www.wewillalwayshavetempe.com
I do have to say that the O-line has been solid today. Again, have to put it into perspective, but still.
After that first set of drives, yes, the OL did look far better
Especially blocking for the run.

Indiana is getting royally screwed
though the ref’s pick on that last interception helped to make amends.
RR: Proud home of the most mods in SBNation.
Announcers
Has anyone caught who is announcing this game? If I have the hear this guy discuss TP without his shoulder pads on I am going to vomit all over my screen…
It has gotten ridiculously annoying. We get it…you used to be an ex-Big Ten coach. There is a reason the “ex” is a part of that title.
by Chief WaDrew on Oct 31, 2009 2:29 PM EDT up reply actions
That came off a lot more sarcastic than I intended.
by Chief WaDrew on Oct 31, 2009 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions
He adjusted his strategy and threw away from him on the next play.
by Chief WaDrew on Oct 31, 2009 2:43 PM EDT up reply actions
Really good game played today. Great game from the defense. They came in and took care of business. Things were clicking today against an inferior team. Let’s hope they look this sharp next week.
