News and Notes

Illinois AD: Zook to return in 2010 - Big Ten - ESPN
Remember a couple weeks back, when I said that who Illinois hires to succeed Ron Zook this offseason will be a good way to gauge whether the rest of the conference wants to become an elite league once again? Never mind. The University of Illinois is going to keep Ron Zook because the "political climate" (and simple economics at a cash-strapped university) won't allow for it. This is why the Big Ten can't have nice things.

Game film: Pryor finds redemption, for now - USATODAY.com
Hey, remember when Bauserman came in and rocked our world with his l33t passing and game management skillz? Yeah, me neither.

BuckeyeXtra - The Bottom Line
3 leaves for the offense, 3 leaves for the defense and S/T, and... 3 leaves for the coaching? Can't we give these guys just a little bit of credit for their first noticeably great coaching job this year? And where the hell were the students?

Montoya defuses Griese's 'taco' remark: 'I don't really care' - Game on - USATODAY.com
Why would he? Chalk it up to the senile ramblings of a crazy (inebriated?) old man.

Floyd to visit Ohio State; Tar Heels offer Grant - ESPN
The number one prospect in the state of Pennsylvania, Sharrif Floyd, visited this past weekend, and if he commits, it'll be three straight years the Keystone State's best overall prospect has picked the Buckeyes and gone west, young man.

A brief ode to just getting by - Dr. Saturday - NCAAF - Yahoo! Sports
Close games mold championship teams, as we know all too well. But does '07 LSU really exemplify this narrative better than '02 Ohio State, as the Good Doctor attests here? I'm not sure I agree, even after having removed the scarlet-tinted rec specs.

The Associated Press: Fresno State rips New Mexico State 34-3
Our next opponent is still terrible.
