Purdue Gameday Thread
Ohio St. Buckeyes at Purdue Boilermakers, Oct 17, 2009 12:00 PM EDT
It's time to put up or shut up in Ohio State's second conference road outing. On paper, this game shouldn't be close. If history is any indication, it will be. If the defense is anything less than dominant today, I'll be a bit perplexed. If the offense is anything more than competent today, I'll be very pleased. We should know fairly early on whether Pryor really took anything to heart watching his technique (or lack thereof) this week against Wisconsin. How long any possible aerial assault will last will probably depend on the weather; it isn't expected to get above 50 in West Lafayette. Regardless, the offense should roll, but I'd feel stupid offering up any guarantees. Go Bucks!

Purdue’s defense is really bad. Their offense turns the ball over a ton. I don’t buy that past Purdue-OSU games have any bearing on today. They have a different defensive coordinator. We have a different team.
45-6. Buckeyes.

Hopefully you’re right. The only thing that gets me a bit worried is that they managed to hang with Oregon and Notre Dame.

In fairness, ND's defense is turrible
The Oregon game was impressive though; the Ducks rank 15th in total D.

I’ve NEVER understood the “Overrated!” chant. Especially for the underdogs, but really chanting it ever. All chanting “overrated” really does is take away from the team who is chanting it. It means you didn’t have to be that good to beat us. Your potential win is less impressive. It’s stupid. The better the opponent that your upsetting, the better it makes you. It’s the same reason all the players and coaches talk about how good the opposing team was, they beater they had to be to beat them. Some fans really have no logic at all.

Yeah, at least 2 on that drive. No way should they have scored a td on that drive.
In my mind, Florida has been exposed.

Terrible spot. He had that ball across the first down marker at furthest penetration.

Ohio State will be just fine...
Pryor is young and this had to be expected in his sophomore campaign. I bet you guys drop to high teens in polls. You can redeem everything on Nov 7th in happy valley. Penn St and Iowa have pretty vanilla attacks, so I’d put my money on you guys in both of those games. Why New Mexico State on Halloween? Doesnt make much sense…
Regroup and come back and blast Minnesota next week.

you guys better win against USC on Halloween, so you guys can finally win a PAC 10 title

Thanx. If we beat Washington in Seattle next week, and USC takes care of business in South Bend and beats Oregon State in L.A. next week it sets up to Top 8 teams in Eugene on Halloween night, ABC game of the night, GameDay again at Oregon…. EPIC.
Back to Big 10- much love for Ohio State. I’ve been to a game (Texas game in Columbus a few years back) and that place rocks. Passion is as much as any other program in country and you guys will always be in national title picture- year in year out.
I know Oregon is in discussions with Ohio State for a home/away series. That would be fun.
despite 2 INTs, Pryor may be leading you guys back. Those 5 turovers are killers. *

I know a TD would have been ideal earlier… but if they went for it and didn’t get it we would have no chance right now… I still like the FG it keeps us in the game right now
by MrPants20 on Oct 17, 2009 3:02 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
This game still has an asterisk. We had a fumble recovery and they called forward motion, AFTER THE FACT.
by Simmsinns on Oct 17, 2009 3:02 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
We also score with Brandon Saine, and there was a phantom holding call. Which results in a Pryor fumble few plays later.

Only mid-October....lot's of football to be played
Penn State and emerging Iowa on the schedule with the latter on the home slate. Way too much football to be calling for heads to roll, or chanting Alamo Bowl.
Take care of business with the Gophers, and New Mexico State at home and then move on to Happy Valley. Things will work themselves out, they always do.

I don’t think it’s just Pryor, though. He was bad, but so was the O line and the defense wasn’t great.

the o-line is awful. if they didn’t have a mobile qb, they’d be screwed. the defense made some big plays though. probably just got tired.
